Update:

The Swiss Open Cultural Data Hackathon will take place as an online event on 5 & 6 June!

This year’s GLAMhack will be virtually hosted by the Swiss Institute for Information Science at the FHGR Chur. Linked open data, machine learning, human-computer-interaction and crowdsourcing have been chosen as the main themes of the hackathon.

The programme is online. We will hold a short info-session the week before the hackathon to present some of the challenges and new datasets. One or two workshops will also take place before the main event. Please check the programme for regular updates.

Registration is open until 29 May. If you want to get the surprise package, make sure to subscribe before 14 May!

We are looking forward to seeing you in June!

Share your data in view of the next Open Cultural Data Hackathon
You may own yourself cultural data that you are ready to share. Please look at these infosheets (German / French) on how to share data. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact valerie.hashimoto@openglam.ch.

Main focus and format
The interlinking of cultural heritage data, the use of structured data as well as crowdsourcing and machine learning are becoming more and more institutionalised in the international GLAM community. This is why the focus of the 2020 and 2021 editions will lie on linked open data, machine learning, human-computer-interaction and crowdsourcing.

The hackathon will start with the group formation on Friday morning and end with a round of presentations on Saturday afternoon. A warm-up session will take place on the Thursday afternoon with workshops and guided tours.

Practical information
How to get there
The easiest way to get to Chur is by railway. Direct trains from Zurich Main Station leave regularly. The journey takes 75 minutes. From the train station in Chur, you can take a bus to the FHGR Campus. More details will be published soon.

Accomodation
We have reserved a number of beds at the local Youth Hostel. The hostel is located near the old town, only 10 minutes away from the train station on foot. Most of the beds are in dormitories, some in smaller rooms of three or four beds. The accomodation is included in the registration, but we can not guarantee a bed for every participant. First come, first served! You can also book your own accomodation if you prefer having more privacy.

Food
You will be provided with food and beverages during the Hackathon.
