Call for papers

The Laboratory for the History of Science and Technology (LHST) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, is organizing the Summer School The history of intellectual property, from local practices to international regulation, which will take place from 3 to 5 September 2025 in Geneva.

While intellectual property has traditionally been studied by legal scholars and economists, several historical research projects have been conducted or launched in different countries in recent years. Building on these initiatives, a significant number of early-career researchers have explored this rich and dynamic research area. LHST is organizing this Summer School to provide an opportunity for early-career researchers to meet, share their work, and discuss new research perspectives. The three main themes are: Boundaries and Geographies of Intellectual Property, Creative Practitioners and Regulation, and Intellectual Property as a Tool of Power and Control.

The call for papers is accessible here. Candidates are invited to submit their candidatures by 30 March. Participation costs will be covered by the organizing institution.
