The Swiss Network of Female Historians, in collaboration with infoclio.ch and the Gosteli Foundation, organised the Historians' Unconference, a participatory event, on 7-8 June 2024 in Bern to discuss and reflect on the state of historical studies and the professional practices of historians from intersectional feminist perspectives.
On this page you will find a video recording of one of the two plenary events, an unconference report and links to press articles.
Inputs to kick it off: From the Swiss Historians’ Conferences to the Historians’ Unconference

Networking, feminist history writing, precarious working conditions, activism – the panelists used these keywords to discuss issues that have occupied historians in various professional fields for many years:
- Noemi Steuerwald, doctoral student, University of Bern
- Béatrice Ziegler, professor emeritus and participant in the first “Schweizerische Historikerinnentagungen” in 1983
- Pauline Milani, co-editor of the lexicon on the history of women in Switzerland and lecturer, University of Fribourg
- Barbara Rettenmund, theatre-creating historian, teacher and co-organiser of the 7th “Schweizerische Historikerinnentagungen” in 1993
- Moderation: Anna de Quervain, member of the Grand Council of the canton of Bern and former board member of the Swiss Network of Female Historians
