The University of Zurich's e-learning project Ad fontes has published a new module entitled "Automated Text Recognition – Making (Handwritten) Documents Accessible". The open access module covers the use of automated text transcriptions through AI models with various types of text corpora and project types in historical research. It is aimed at beginners in the use of Automated Text Recognition (ATR) as well as at refreshing and systematizing existing knowledge. Five chapters introduce the functionality and operation of this new technology and refer to useful metrics.
