Graduate Schools
Next June 16 to 21 2024, the Swiss Elite Observatory (OBELIS) will host the 2nd Summer school on “Elites, Power and Inequalities” at the University of Lausanne. The summer school is open to all PhD students and early post-docs interested in the study of elites and power.
The summer school aims to become a meeting point of young scholars in the emerging interdisciplinary research field studying elites and the super-rich. Lectures given by leading experts will cover theoretical and empirical issues such as wealth inequality, elite lifestyles, internationalization of elites or women in positions of power.The most important methods in the study of elites and power –network analysis, prosopography, ethnography or archival research –will be presented by international specialists. Participants will also have the opportunity to present and discuss their own research/ PhD project in specific sessions.
Special attention will be given to questions of data storage, data sharing and data archival in compliance with the FAIR principles. Participants will learn how they can use and share open research data on elites and inequalities.

Scholarships are available for PhD students from the Global South (deadline 11 March 2024).
