Call for collaboration of the Swiss manuscript collections and e-codices

Swiss manuscript collections and e-codices – Virtual Manuscript Library of Switzerland would like to encourage collaboration with researchers in the field of manuscript scholarship by requesting that you, our scholarly users, suggest manuscripts that are important to your research for possible digitization and inclusion on the e-codices website.

We would like to use this collaborative method to make 25 additional medieval and modern manuscripts available on e-codices during the year 2015, within the scope of a project sponsored by the Rectors’ Conference of the Swiss Universities and Swiss University Conference. The manuscripts may represent any field of study, but should be of major significance for research in the respective fields.

Basic Requirements
  • The manuscripts must be held in manuscript collections within Switzerland.
  • The central importance of particular manuscripts to your research should be clearly demonstrated in the proposal.

What is expected of manuscript researchers in terms of collaboration?
  • A proposal may be given special consideration if the researcher expresses willingness to enter into collaborative research with the respective manuscript collection and e-codices.
  • This collaboration could involve the writing of a new scholarly description, or the editing or expansion of an existing description.
  • A collaboration could also involve a digitization-based research project that demonstrates the advantages of making manuscript resources digitally available online.

What services will the Swiss manuscript collections and e-codices provide?
  • hould your proposal be accepted by the Swiss manuscript collections and e-codices, the manuscript will be digitized, and e-codices will make it available on the e-codices website during calendar year 2015, without any additional costs on your account as a service in return for your scholarly contribution.
