Following the success of the first volume, editor Aleksej Tikhonov (University of Zurich) invites submissions for the second volume of Rap and the Slavic Languages (Transcript/DeGruyter), now transitioning to English to accommodate a broader, interdisciplinary international authors and audience. This volume seeks original research from fields such as Slavic linguistics, literature and culture studies, musicology, history and the social sciences that examine language and its application within hip-hop culture, specifically regarding linguistic specificities, sociopolitical dimensions, post-migrant perspectives, digital interrelations, and other views on Rap and Graffiti. Interested scholars are invited to submit a PDF abstract of approximately 300 words (including title, bibliography, and institutional affiliation) to aleksej.tikhonov@uzh.ch by June 1, 2026, for consideration in this project, which also welcomes verbatim interview transcriptions with rappers, artists and other relevant persons as primary research data; accepted full papers (approx. 50,000 characters) are slated for publication in early 2027.
