It aims to explore references to Muslim Sicily within broader discussions on Italian national identity, the Peninsula's Southern regions, Catholicism, Islam, and issues of race and ethnicity. Ultimately, it seeks to shed light on the intricate relationship between nation, memory, identity, and alterity in Italy and Europe
