Izabel Barros (Université de Lausanne/UCR) studies a Swiss-owned plantation in southern Bahia in the 19th century. Her research connects Brazilian and Swiss history and, from the perspective of enslaved women and children, offers new insights into gender, motherhood, and slavery.
