Istituto Svizzero hosts researchers from universities and higher education institutes at Villa Maraini in Rome in July, August and early September. Proposals must be multidisciplinary, often linked to Rome and its cultural heritage, or foster inter/transdisciplinary exchange. A Summer School in Palermo in July is also possible for projects related to Sicily and Mediterranean area.
The call for applications for the 2027 Summer Schools is open to universities and institutes of higher education. Istituto Svizzero welcomes project proposals from all disciplines that offer participants fresh historical or contemporary perspectives on Rome, or, more broadly, on Italy. It also welcomes initiatives that encourage collaboration across different scientific fields (interdisciplinary exchange) or between art and science (transdisciplinary exchange).
In July, Istituto Svizzero offers the opportunity for a Summer School in Palermo, dedicated to projects focusing on Sicily and/or the Mediterranean.
