Agitation im Rotationsdruck. Soziale, mediale und materielle Infrastrukturen der Neuen Linken in Zürich von 1968 bis 1973

Die Masterarbeit untersucht wichtige Infrastrukturen der Neuen Linken in Zürich zwischen 1968 und 1973. Dazu werden Flugblätter, Zeitschriften, interne Protokolle und Polizeiberichte analysiert, die von der Protestgruppe Fortschrittliche Arbeiter, Schüler und Studenten (FASS), deren Publikationsorgan Agitation oder der selbstverwaltenden Druckerei Ropress handeln oder von diesen herausgegeben wurden. In dieser Analyse wird die Neue Linke als Konsumenten oder Produzenten einer linken Öffentlichkeit charakterisiert, in welcher die bürgerliche Lebensweise kritisiert wird. Diese Öffentlichkeit wird durch eine Alternativpresse angetrieben, die Presseerzeugnissen schreibt und druckt. Die Alternativpresse verändert und verstetigt sich im Verlauf des Untersuchungszeitraums und Infrastrukturen bilden sich aus. Unter Infrastruktur wird ein System dauerhafter gegenseitiger Erwartungen verstanden, das öffentlich anerkannt und wirksam wird. Die Entstehung solcher Infrastrukturen wird in drei Schritten beschrieben. (1) 1968 beschlagnahmt die Polizei wegen des fehlenden Druckvermerks Flugblätter, die für einen öffentlichen Protest werben. Dieser Moment markiert die Geburtstunde der linken Jugendorganisation FASS. (2) Das FASS steht massgeblich hinter dem “Aktionskomitee für ein autonomes Jugendzentrum”, das während des “Globuskrawalls” als Wortführer der Jugendbewegung agierte, und in der Folge die Aktionszeitschrift Agitation gründete. (3) Die Redaktion der Agitation hat aus ideologischen und finanziellen Gründen Schwierigkeiten, eine Druckerei für ihre Zeitschrift zu finden und beginnt selbst zu drucken. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt wird Ropress zu einer zentralen Infrastruktur der Neuen Linken in Zürich. In this analysis, the New Left is characterised as a consumer or producer of a left-wing public in which the bourgeois way of life is criticised. This public is driven by an alternative press that writes and prints press products. The alternative press changes and stabilises over the course of the investigation period and infrastructures are formed. Infrastructure is a system of lasting mutual expectations that is publicly recognised and effective. The development of such infrastructures is described in three steps. (1) In 1968, the police confiscated leaflets promoting a public protest in the absence of a printing notice. This moment marks the birth of the left-wing youth organisation FASS. (2) The FASS are decisively behind the “Action Committee for an autonomous youth centre”, which acted as spokesman for the youth movement during the “Globus riot” and subsequently founded the action magazine Agitation. (3) For ideological and financial reasons, the editors of Agitation have difficulty in finding a printer for their magazine and are starting to print themselves.
