Pharmacy Museum Basel

Inventory: 
The "Pharmacy museum" contains collections of old pharmaceuticals, pharmacy furniture, laboratory utensils, ceramics, instruments, books, art- and craftwork. The museum is situated in the old house "Zum Vorderen Sessel", where the famous humanist Erasmus and the alchemist Paracelsus once dwelled.

The museum contains the following collections:

Albrecht von Haller (1708-1777)

This website is intended to serve as a platform for all who are interested in Haller and his times.

It offers an abundantly illustrated introduction to Haller’s life and work, information about the principal fields of endeavour in which he was engaged, insights into past and present research, and an index of the large body of Haller’s original writings available online.

The Swiss polymath Albrecht von Haller (1708–1777) was one of the central figures of the century of the Enlightenment. As a poet and scholar, physician and botanist, collector and encyclopaedist, university professor and experimental researcher, society president and correspondent, renowned author and influential reviewer, magistrate and orthodox Christian, he reflects many of the intellectual movements, events, and conditions of his time.

td-net - Network for Transdisciplinary Research

Inventory: 

td-net is a network for the promotion of trans-disciplinary orientation in various areas of research.

td-net publishes a yearly wide overview of important publications in the field of inter- and transdisciplinarity.

Swiss Science Center Technorama

Inventory: 

The Swiss Science Center Technorama offers more than 500 interactive phenomenal exhibits for the exploration of natural sciences and technology.
The Technorama shows exhibitions about the themes Automation, The Sound of Wood, Light and Vision, Magnestism, Electricity, MatheMagics, Mechanics, About Faces, Spatial Imaging, Perception, Water/Nature/Chaos, Toy Trains as well as presentations and special exhibitions.

International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum

Inventory: 

Collections: The museum preserves objects that recall the milestones in the development of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. It also has a unique collection of items that were made by prisoners and handed over to the ICRC delegates in appreciation.

Zurich Paracelsus Project

The Paracelsus Project collects the microfilms of important manuscripts of Theophrastus of Hohenheim (1493/94-1541), called Paracelsus, records the texts electronically an analyses them according to various criteria.

The project focuses on the reedition of selected medical, theological, prophetic, and magical works of Paracelsus, the creation of a general index to the complete works and the compilation of a Paracelsus Dictionary as a reference source.

Several editions of the works have been digitized and made available online.

Competence Center »History of Knowledge« (ZGW)

Inventory: 

The ZGW is a scientific center of excellence of the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich that aims to promote and coordinate cultural, historical and philosophical research and teaching on modern knowledge systems and knowledge societies.

The ZGW is a center for scientific research as well as a platform for public reflection on the role of knowledge in modern societies.

Gesnerus - Swiss Journal of the History of Medicine and Sciences

Gesnerus is the official journal of the Swiss Society for the History of Medicine and Sciences (SSHMS). It publishes original articles, short communications and documents on different periods and aspects of the history of medicine and sciences and also focuses on theoretical and social aspects of this subject.

Issues from vol. 60 (2003) are available for download as PDF-files three years after publication (more recent issues: tables of contents and abstracts only).
