The Bodmer Lab - A Digital World Literature

La Fondation Martin Bodmer conserve une exceptionnelle collection de documents écrits, des premières traces de l’écriture jusqu’à nos jours, rassemblés comme les témoins les plus marquants de la littérature mondiale. Le Bodmer Lab met la technologie numérique et des instruments informatiques innovants au service d’une recherche sur la structure de cette archive de l’esprit humain.

L’accent mis dans ce projet sur l’idée de « littérature mondiale » tranche à sa manière une série de dilemmes récurrents au sein des humanités numériques. La préférence est tout d’abord donnée à une numérisation attentive à la structure même de la collection Bodmer (smart data), plutôt qu’à une numérisation exhaustive (big data) qui inclurait tout ce que compte le catalogue du fonds. On se limitera en effet à quelques ensembles significatifs, les plus susceptibles d’intéresser les chercheurs : par exemple la série des variations sur le thème de Faust, qui compte près de mille titres ; l’exceptionnelle collection des éditions de Shakespeare ; les quelques centaines d’incunables ; la série des autographes d’écrivains, dont beaucoup sont inédits.

Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel (CDN)

Inventory: 

The CDN presents a permanent exhibition devoted to Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s artistic oeuvre. Regularly, it mounts temporary exhibitions that tie in with the subjects that interested him as a writer and artist and organises colloquiums, roundtable discussions, lectures, encounters and other events.

Fondation Martin Bodmer - Library and Museum

Inventory: 

The collection comprises Western and Eastern manuscripts, autograph manuscripts and incunabula – of which one tenth are rare or unique items. There are also several thousand original prints dating from between the 16th and the 20th centuries. Among the treasures of this collection are the oldest known manuscript of the Gospel of Saint John, three manuscripts of Dante, Goethe several texts autographs and original edition of the Communist Manifesto of Marx and Engels.

Passe-Partout - International Bank of Printers' Ornaments

The aim of Passe-Partout is to make available to researchers in the field of book history an international database of printers' ornaments.

Built around archives of locally-provided data, Passe-Partout operates on the non-profit basis of exchange and cooperation.

All users can freely consult the database of ornaments and make use of the information they find.

Museum Hermann Hesse

Inventory: 

A permanent exhibition shows Hermann Hesse's life in Montagnola. The personal belongings, photos, books and watercolour paintings reflect the writer's character, but also Hesse as a private person.

Numerous photos, illustrations and drawings from the exhibits are available in the online gallery.

House of Elsewhere

Inventory: 

The House of Elsewhere is a museum dedicated to science fiction, utopia and extraordinary journeys.

Every year the House presents in two or three exhibitions parts of its collection with about 70'000 objects. It also presents expositions outdoors.

e-rara.ch

The e-rara.ch platform makes digitized rare books from Swiss libraries available to the public, free of charge.

The present focus is on 16th century Swiss prints. Further collections concern astronomy, architecture and urbanism, mathematics and physics.

All the documents are online available.

Swiss Literary Archives (SLA)

The Swiss Literary Archives (SLA) were officially inaugurated at the Swiss National Library in Bern in early 1991. The SLA assembles documents connected to the literature of all four linguistic regions of Switzerland: French, German, Italian and Romansh, with particular emphasis on the 20th and 21st centuries. The Literary Archives hold today some 100 complete fonds and 120 partial fonds and collections.

The On-line catalogue allows researches in the holdings of the Geneva Jewish Library "Gérard Nordmann".
