Register of Swiss Surnames

The Register of Swiss Surnames offers a comprehensive alphabetical listing of all the families holding citizenship in a Swiss community.

Each entry contains information on the place of origin (i.e. community of citizenship), time of naturalisation as well as previous place or country of origin. This site offers free access to some 48'500 entries, as compiled in the third edition of the "Familiennamenbuch der Schweiz" (Schulthess Polygraphischer Verlag, Zurich 1989).

Pharmacy Museum Basel

Inventory: 
The "Pharmacy museum" contains collections of old pharmaceuticals, pharmacy furniture, laboratory utensils, ceramics, instruments, books, art- and craftwork. The museum is situated in the old house "Zum Vorderen Sessel", where the famous humanist Erasmus and the alchemist Paracelsus once dwelled.

Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel (CDN)

Inventory: 

The CDN presents a permanent exhibition devoted to Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s artistic oeuvre. Regularly, it mounts temporary exhibitions that tie in with the subjects that interested him as a writer and artist and organises colloquiums, roundtable discussions, lectures, encounters and other events.

Albrecht von Haller (1708-1777)

The Swiss polymath Albrecht von Haller (1708–1777) was one of the central figures of the century of the Enlightenment. As a poet and scholar, physician and botanist, collector and encyclopaedist, university professor and experimental researcher, society president and correspondent, renowned author and influential reviewer, magistrate and orthodox Christian, he reflects many of the intellectual movements, events, and conditions of his time.
