Swiss National Museum - Timemachine

Timemachine is an online exhibition of the Swiss National Museum with historical photographs on "Switzerland in motion".
The photographs can be searched for themes, epochs and search terms.

The photographic collection covers the period from 1839 to the recent past and comprises almost 200'000 photographs. The goal is to document the social and cultural change in Switzerland since 1840 as well as the history of photography in Switzerland.

Timeline of Historical Film Colors offers a database of historical film colours and documentation about its processes. The database contains more than 290 entries and connects historical and bibliographical information with primary resources from more than 400 scanned frames.

iconicarchive - Photographic Online Archive of Othmar Jaeggi

iconicarchive is a private project which aims at providing photos of private archives online. The thematic focus lies on archaeology with photos of archaeological sites, travels and objects within museums.

ETHistory 1855-2005

ETHistory 1855-2005 offers online available information and ressources concerning the 150-year-old history of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich.

To the following subject areas very extensive and varied texts, pictures and sound material is online available:

Phototheca Afghanica

Phototheca Afghanica is a project of the Foundation Bibliotheca Afghanica to safeguard and identify old photographs from Afghanistan. The aim of the project is not only the physical safeguarding of old photographs and related documents, but also to create awareness of the rich cultural heritage of the country and making use of this knowledge for the reconstruction of Afghanistan and its society.

The photos coming from differents collections are online available. The holding can be researched by collection and series or by browsing the images.

Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel (CDN)

Inventory: 

The CDN presents a permanent exhibition devoted to Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s artistic oeuvre. Regularly, it mounts temporary exhibitions that tie in with the subjects that interested him as a writer and artist and organises colloquiums, roundtable discussions, lectures, encounters and other events.

Fondation Jacques-Edouard Berger - Photographies and courses online

The site of the foundation Jacques-Edouard Berger provides online part of the 100.000 images classified by countries and places and some courses (video) too on "Les grandes écoles de peinture" and "L'architecture et le sacré".

Fondation Jacques-Edouard Berger - World Art Treasures

Inventory: 

Jacques-Edouard Berger has brought back over 100,000 pictures for the purpose of courses or lectures from Europe, the United States, Egypt, China, India, Japan, Burma, Laos and Thailand.

Some of the images, courses and conferences have been posted on the website of the foundation.

The site also offers a Timeline of the history of art with some of its most important figures.
