The History of ITU Portal provides access to International Telecommunications Union (ITU)'s history with facts, figures, lists, dates, and a growing selection of digitized documents.​​​

Earthquake catalog ECOS-09

ECOS-09 (Earthquake Catalog of Switzerland 2009) is the current earthquake catalog of Switzerland. It integrates the following basic information:

  • The Macroseismic Earthquake Catalog of Switzerland, with events from AD 250, revised and supplemented to 2008;
  • Yearly reports of the Swiss earthquake commission since 1879;
  • Earthquake locations of the instrumental networks of the SED since 1975;
  • Supplemented by 12 earthquake catalogs from neighboring and international agencies.

Register of Swiss Surnames

The Register of Swiss Surnames offers a comprehensive alphabetical listing of all the families holding citizenship in a Swiss community.

Each entry contains information on the place of origin (i.e. community of citizenship), time of naturalisation as well as previous place or country of origin. This site offers free access to some 48'500 entries, as compiled in the third edition of the "Familiennamenbuch der Schweiz" (Schulthess Polygraphischer Verlag, Zurich 1989).

Passe-Partout - International Bank of Printers' Ornaments

The aim of Passe-Partout is to make available to researchers in the field of book history an international database of printers' ornaments.

Built around archives of locally-provided data, Passe-Partout operates on the non-profit basis of exchange and cooperation.

All users can freely consult the database of ornaments and make use of the information they find.

ARAMIS information system

The ARAMIS information system contains information regarding research, development and evaluation projects of the Swiss Federal Administration.

It is intended, Government and Parliament willing, to provide information to interested parties about the research projects funded or implemented by the Swiss Confederation, as well as to improve coordination and establish transparency.

ARAMIS is equipped with a search engine that can be used to search for all public projects in the ARAMIS database.

Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO) - "Swiss Statistics"

Inventory: 

The web portal "Swiss Statistics“ proposes a wide range of statistical information on the most important areas of life: population, health, economy, employment, education and much more.

The topical and historical statistical information can be investigated by subjects or regions (cantons and states).

Historical statistics of switzerland online

The online database of the Research Center for Social and Economic History provides over 10'000 time series covering the economic and social history of Switzerland in the 19th and 20th Centuries.

Swiss Household Panel (SHP)

The principal aim of the Swiss Household Panel (SHP) conducted by the Fondation suisse pour la recherche en sciences sociales (FORS) is to observe social change, in particular the dynamics of changing living conditions in the population of Switzerland.

Currently, the members of the research network Living in Switzerland are analyzing data on a variety of topics: types of households and families, poverty, health, living conditions of elderly people, living conditions of first and second generation immigrants, political participation and life satisfaction, etc.

DARIS - Data and Research Information Services of FORS

The Data and Research Information Services DARIS of the Swiss Foundation for Research in Social Sciences (FORS) serves as a national resource center for research and teaching in the social sciences.

The unit maintains a comprehensive and up-to-date inventory of social science research projects in Switzerland.

In addition, the Data Services Archive Section is responsible for acquiring, processing, storing, and disseminating significant data files and metadata produced in the country.

The data can be researched by the means of a an online data catalogue.

FORS - Swiss Foundation for Research in Social Sciences
