A Swiss MOOC on Digital Art and Culture


The Bern Univeristy of the Arts (Hochscule der Künste Bern) offers, starting from June 4th to October 19th 2014, a An Open Online Course about identification, documentation and conservatory understanding of digital art and culture.

Summary
The BUA-MOOC on Digital Art and Culture provides insight into the digital net culture, the aspects of its historical development and its current challenges. It shows where Digital Art and Culture can be found on the net and how it actually looks like. It explains how “digital culture” (as art) can be read and learnt and how this engagement in artistic works and interventions help us understand contemporary art. Theoretical inputs and fundamental techniques like identification and documentation, as well as, applied approaches to preservation will be presented. The MOOC illustrates the important stages in the digital lifecycle, production, reception and preservation.

Course structure:
The MOOC is open from June 4th to October 19th 2014. Access is free of charge, no previous knowledge required.
It will start with a series of 3 live online seminars (webinars) (90-min). The three online seminars (webinars) introduce the three thematic sections with the use of input presentations (June 4th, 5th and 4th 2014 each at 04:30 pm).
Courses are held in English.
